About DC|Teikyo

DC | Teikyo Maastricht is a diagnostic clinic, which since 1992 has focused primarily on Japanese expats living and working in Europe, and their families. Over the course of nearly 30 years DC | Teikyo Maastricht has built up an excellent reputation and enormous expertise.

Maastricht is optimally equipped to meet this need.
Our objective is to obtain a detailed and reliable picture of your health in a non-invasive, safe, efficient and customer-friendly manner. Our statement here at DC |Teikyo Maastricht is: prevention is better than cure. This is called primary prevention.

Medical examination process (comprehensive health checkup)

The examination starts with an anamnesis (medical interview) in which, on the basis of the questionnaire completed by you, your health is discussed. Subsequently, you undergo a comprehensive physical examination. In addition to the measurement of weight, height, waist, BMI determination and the measurement of blood pressure, a so-called top-toe examination is carried out and all the major organ systems and body functions are monitored. These examinations will be performed by the general practitioner (e.g. home doctor).

Specialized examinations will be performed by specialized doctors (e.g. specialists; internal medicine, gynaecologist, radiologist).

Depending on the package you choose, the imaging techniques vary from abdominal ultrasonography (an ultrasound examination of abdominal organs), chest X-ray (lung photo), gastroscopy (view in the stomach) and mammography (examination of the breasts). In addition, the following tests are performed: an ECG (heart tracing) and a gynaecological examination, including gynaecological ultrasound and PAP smear.

For the determination of Helicobacter pylori (bacteria, related to the onset of stomach cancer) a simple and reliable stool test is available. Since this test is available there is no need to perform a barium meal examination or to have a gastroscopic examination any longer. Only in case of (alleged) ulcer in the stomach or duodenum, a gastroscopic examination is recommended.

The laboratory research consists of a more comprehensive analysis of the blood, an examination of the urine and a sample of the stool. The material is collected locally and sent to a specialized laboratory for further analysis. In a number of cases some further tissues may be collected (e.g. gastric mucosa, PAP smear). These additional materials will be tested in specialized laboratories.

The range of studies offered and performed in our center is focused on and related to age (children, young adults, elderly) and gender (male/female).

At the end of the different examinations follows a take-out by the same doctor who performed the intake. Here you will be informed about the (preliminary) research and your questions will be answered. In addition, we give personal advice to maintain your good health or to re-acquire an optimal state of health.  If illness or significant abnormality is encountered and (urgent) further examination, treatment or evaluation is required, we give a referral advice and support you in finding a treatment center in your area.

As soon as the other research results (e.g. blood tests) are known, the final study report is prepared and sent to you.
